Food Sharing Tips for Beginners

July 25, 2017 By Jack Franklin

Food sharing may seem like a crazy concept to many. However, people need to understand that the food we throw away could have gone to better use. It may be cliché to say that there are people out there who can barely afford to eat but the tragedy of it all is that this remains true even in this day and age.

  • Make A Plan – If you are thinking about making food sharing a regular thing, then it would be best for you to plan it out ahead of time. It would be great if you could work out how you plan on giving away the extra food you have. For instance, are you going to do it personally or are you contributing to the efforts of a larger group? These details must be properly worked out beforehand.

  • Avoid Food Wastage – This is probably the easiest way to share food. Check the pantry for stuff that is nearing the expiration date. If you have no use for it, then instead of letting it go bad, give it away.

All of us can do something to help out. It is as easy as doing the tricks presented above.

  • THREE INGREDIENT PEANUT BUTTER COOKIE DOUGH BREAK-APART FUDGE 😍😋
~
Keep this dough in the freezer and break off a piece anytime you want a guilt-free tasty treat. By @sixvegansisters
~
📝 Ingredients
* 1/2 cup maple syrup
* 1/2 cup natural peanut butter
* 1 cup oat flour
* Any extra additions (we used mini chocolate chips)
.
👨‍🍳 Preparation
1. In a saucepan, heat the maple syrup (this is an organic option!) on medium-high until it begins to bubble.
2. Remove from heat and whisk in the peanut butter (we love this brand).
3. Pour into a bowl with the oat flour (this is gluten free!). Mix until combined.
4. Let the dough chill completely, then add any toppings (If you do not let the dough chill, your add-ins could melt!).
5. To form, press the chilled dough into a lined loaf pan. Carefully remove the dough (so that it keeps its shape) and flip it over (so the rounded corners face up). Using a knife, cut slits into the dough that almost reach the bottom, creating 18 pieces that are connected on the bottom. Freeze.
6. Once frozen, you will be able to break off a piece every time you need a #treat!
